Vauxhall competition to win an all expenses paid race drive for a year, worth a shot.

Both Colin and I made it through to the second round, but as I am at Harewood on the 15th I have had to withdraw my place.

so all you had to do was answer a few questions to get through to the 2nd round?

This guy on VVOC (Vauxhall Vectra owners club) (sad I know!!) seems to think hes battled through thousands to get there??

10 p*** easy questions and you go karting for free!

There are other issues at play that may have curtailed my involvment any way, being employed as a sub contractor to GM being one of them!

It would appear I was not VXR enough!

VVOC............oh dear, they are the kind of people who bombard me with questions all day long!

No unfortunately not, but I know how to! Pop along to your nearest dealer (Sherwoods, probably) and ask for a trade club registration form, fill it in as "GT"Motors of Aycliffe and voila you get massive parts discount on production of your trade club card and regular bulletins on what are the current offers. For example a service kit for my Corsa retails a £60 trade club price £18!

I can supply you with tech advice though!

If I can get hold of the MSA I am going to try and get my comp licence upgraded to stage rally national B before the end of the year and perhaps enter the xmas stage or more likely jack frost, only a slim chance at present though.

I too have een a regularand Colin also but this year he is being a wuss and heading to Florida over Christmas rather than brave the sub zero arctic conditions of an old airfield in Yorkshire!

At least when I went away for Christmas in 2003 I went to Austria to find some snow!

2008 competition is live

last year, nearly 10,000 entrants took part in our search for the VXR Racing Driver of the Year. A few came close. But not close enough. This year, see how close you can get.

The competition

From the 1 April – 27 June, we’ll be running the initial qualifying stage of our highly–anticipated VXR Racing Driver of the Year competition again. Take part, and this time next year you could be taking your place on the starting grids of the 2009 Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup, racing a fully–prepared Vauxhall Astra VXR for an entire season.

Still think you’re VXR enough?

If you’re more than just an armchair fan, and relish the cut and thrust of the racetrack, if you’re over 21 and live in the UK, and haven’t ever held a race licence you can make 2009 your year. Check out the website and prepare yourself to go all–out for this once–in–a–lifetime racing experience. Remember to check out the buzz on the forums, and since you like a bit of competition, why not get a friend involved this year too?

It’s still free to enter, and if you make it through to through to the semi–finals, you can have a heck of a lot of fun showcasing your skills and indulging your competitive streak in some frenetic kart racing. And if you’re VXR enough on the day, you could be one of the finalists who make it through to the punishing demands and competitiveness of Race Camp.

A passion for driving and motorsports will give you an advantage. The best drivers know how to exploit advantages.
