Tour of Hamsterley 14th September 2008

The intention is to run approx 40 miles of stages all in Hamsterley.

There are cost implications and much depends on the event's inclusion in both the ANCC and ANECCC stage rally championships.

Steve Petch will provide backing as in previous years but a full entry would be extremely beneficial as forestry costs are sure to rise in 2008.

Steve Waggett and I will take on Clerk of the Course duties and hopefully Dave Brownridge will take on the onerous task of Chief Marshal.

Other potential members of the organising team will be contacted in the near future. If anyone is interested in joining the team please let Steve or myself know.

Watch this space!!

lots of ideas in the pipeline but of course a route check thro the forest is needed. planned for the next month.

Other issues revolve around the date, champship inclusion, route, bodies etc and of course budget.

But watch this space.

I have a copy of the OS stage maps from the 2005 event,

maybe something to refer to when planning routes, etc.

gavin

thanks maps maybe useful as mine are written on but I do have the 1:25000map - I did the event in 04 and 05 and know the forest very well especially as I bike there regularly and only live six miles away

Lots of planning to sort out and options as I stated above.

A meeting will be needed and I will try to arrange with derek once we have been and surveyed the forest and come up with a plan.

Tour of Hamsterley 2008

The Forestry Commission will only allow 1 motorsport event into Hamsterley Forest per year.We are the top of the list so the other organisations who want to use the venue will be unsuccessful.

Steve and I are carrying out a survey in early September to establish what looks to be usable. We will then discuss with the Commission our findings and hopefully reach agreement on a route.

Steve and I will keep you posted with any developments and what positions on the organising team require filling.

For information things have moved on a little.....it looks like the event is a round of the ANECCC champ for 2008....Th event maybe a co promoted rally not sure yet....

If we were running 2wd only (we are not ) have been approached by the 1400 club to run perhaps 40 -50 cars including the f1000....... but its probable that may go to the Lion stages...

very nice to see SDMC website as the link for Hamsterley Stages in Ian Hardys motorsport calendar

its the one I use when planning what events to go to and was giving it a routine peruse for 2008 events when I came accross the link.
