f1 back on track?

Well it is almost time for the f1 season start.
Hopefully it should be a cracker like it was last year
With the removal of traction control as a major factor there might be a few mishaps on the track and how will renault do with out it as there starts over the last few years have been a great asset to them.
And having no spare car to race if anything happens is that good? Personally if there is a major incident at the start (as SPA a few years back) we might end up with only a few cars on track and that would be no good.
But anyway can L Hamilton do it this year   lets hope so
                                  Good luck to him
Gav Taylor

no interest in F1 at all but would like to see hamilton get the championship
steaallan

f1

must watch it even if it is only for the start and those lovely pit lane babes Grrr
Gav Taylor

rallyist through and through me Ste son, the thought of watching cars go round in circles for a hour..would rather cut a donkeys toe nails
club sec

I am sure that could be arranged.
Gav Taylor

do you keep donkeys like?    interesting...
club sec

yes there were at least 11 at the Riverside today
Gav Taylor

and even more lemmings going to watch them I saw as I blissfully left boro in the back of my mates newly acquired laguna 3.0l V6.

He did have a 2.0l 4 pot until he forgot to put the oil cap back on and set off to to Edinburgh for a meeting...it lasted 150 miles before the pistons welded themselves to the block.
steaallan

f1 australia

well its half an hour before the first race of the season with hamilton on pole but watch out for raikonen coming through from 15th after gaining an extra place off track as timo glock loses 10 places due to new regs (5 for a new gear box and 5 for blocking another driver)after originally doing a good quali and getting up to 9th
steaallan

australia

well thats it 1st race over and with only 7 finishers hamilton wins followed by Heidfeld and Rosberg and best of all ferrari no points   :smt097  Unlucky for Bourdais (torro rosso) who classified 8th but went out with engine failure 3 laps to go on his f1 debut
Gav Taylor

good start for the main man.
steaallan

australia

i guess that u didnt get up 2 watch  it then gav
Gav Taylor

not really a fan of F1 so no mate
steaallan

Sepang - Malaysia

Well its been a quick week and it is almost the start of round 2 at Sepang - Malaysia lets see if Hamilton can do it again. Personally i am expecting it to be a tough one with Raikkonen
steaallan

Just in case no-one know but the grandprix from the 2009 season will be back on the bbc they have just signed a five year deal so Yippee no more adverts.  All though it will be funny not hearing my sons name on the telly doing the commentating (James Allan) Just hope there coverage and commentry wont let them down
Gav Taylor

steaallan

poll

well enter the poll and lets see what everyone else thinks
Gav Taylor

voted.
club sec

Will they bring back the famous "chain" by Fleetwood Mac theme tune? Sacrilage and a missed oppurtunity if they don't.
steaallan

malasia

Well after a topsy turvy qualifing mclaren qualified 3rd and 4th but  Kovalainen and Hamilton's have been demotion   to eighth and ninth after getting penalized   for blocking Heidfeld on there in lap.
lets see how they do just hope there is no incidents in the first corner
Massa well ahead in pole with Raikkonen 2nd and Trulli a great 3rd
steaallan

Malaysia

Well after a lack luster race in Malaysia for L Hamilton who finished fifth after using wrong tyres most of the race and stuck behind M Webber for half of the race and also a tyre change problem. But it was a walk in the park for K Raikkonen who finished 40secs ahead of Kubica and H Kovalainen a further 20secs behind. Now a long two weeks for the next gp wich moves over to Bahrain.
                             See you then
Gav Taylor

are you going over like?

How much would that cost in petrol for the V8?
steaallan

£

at todays petrol prices probably close to 5k  lol
Gav Taylor

prob cheaper over there tho!!!
steaallan

steaallan

SO SO TRUE
Gav Taylor

that last "argument" had nowt to do with me
steaallan

well i am sorry for not posting anything here for a while but i have been busy with events and organising and unfortunately work,
So what happened to our top man lewis? well i suppose it shows that everynoe can make mistakes well another good race for massa who won follewed by raikkonen and then the 2 bmw saubers of Kubica and heidfeldand th echamp status is now
1. Kimi Raikkonen Ferrari 19
2. Nick Heidfeld BMW Sauber  16
3. Lewis Hamilton McLaren Mercedes 14
4. Robert Kubica BMW Sauber  14
5. Heikki Kovalainen McLaren Mercedes 14
6. Felipe Massa Ferrari 10
at the moment it could be anyones championship but who will walk away with the spoils
club sec

Outside bet on Heidfeld might be worth a dabble, consistent and sure to win a race soon.
steaallan

i have to agree with u marti consistancy will win in the end Heidfeld would be a good outside bet
steaallan

well after spain and championship's going ferrari way Hamilton and mclaren need to find some speed somewhere just hoping they do it next week in Istanbul - Turkey
Well we were talking about heidfeld been outside bet but what about kubica after all only 1 point behind hamilton

1. Kimi Raikkonen Ferrari 29
2. Lewis Hamilton McLaren Mercedes 20
3. Robert Kubica BMW Sauber  19
4. Felipe Massa Ferrari 18
5. Nick Heidfeld BMW Sauber  16
6. Heikki Kovalainen McLaren Mercedes 14
7. Jarno Trulli Toyota 9
8. Mark Webber Red Bull Racing 8
9. Nico Rosberg Williams 7
10. Fernando Alonso Renault 6

1. Ferrari 47
2. BMW Sauber  35
3. McLaren Mercedes 34
4. Williams 12
5. Toyota 9
steaallan

well what a major co!* up for Hamilton in the canadian gp but it is good to see new faces up there and good old reliable D.C back on the podium
club sec

Is Kubica the ugliest man ever to win an F1 race?
club sec

Mediocre race, was hoping for Raikonnen to lose more time and let Toyota have a second place, still a good result in what was a bad week for them off the track.

Hamilton is losing it, he can't take the pressure.

Kubica is down but not out and again took the P**s out of Heidfeld.

Silverstone next, looking like another 1-2 for the mighty red machines.......hope it rains!
Gav Taylor

Hamilton needs to get himself sorted and quick otherwise he's in danger of being another Button or Coulthard...drivers who basically pad out the race while the podiums are fought out well in front of them.

Never liked F1 boring as hell always boils down about 2 or 3 people every season, whats the point of all the rest even being there??
steaallan

come on it aint that bad there is a five way split at the top with Kubica been a good outside bet the way he is totting up those points
but anyway silverstone here we come i cant  wait
club sec

Gav until you have been to an F1 race you cannot understand the utter thrill of the noise.

Last time I went to Silverstone I got goosebumps when I was about 3 miles away, just from the noise, sheer magic.

Ask Skodaman about the old Renault Turbo engies too, they nearly popped your eardrums!
Gav Taylor

obviously running late then??
steaallan

great news lads what u think?     Donnington got the F1 for ten years starting in 2010
club sec

Well they will have it for a year, just so Bernie can get it away from Silverstone and then make an excuse saying the facilities are no good and pull the Britsih GP altogether.
steaallan

no no i disagree donnington is a great circuit and they will plough a lot of money into the facilities plus it is a much better circuit to go and watch at with high banking to sprawl out on in the summer
club sec

I agree but Bernie wants big money and that's all in the far East.
steaallan

well possibly but he is a buisness man   and a good one at that although he will want one to stay in GB
club sec

He is a crook.
steaallan

well how else would he make his money you cant do it legally nowadays
club sec

Too true.
steaallan

look will you stop replying i am trying to pack boxes here
club sec

It's not messenger, you can look at this tomorrow.
steaallan

i but then there will be a thousand messages and i wont be able to look at them all with all these other people putting messages on here
Gav Taylor

no de riguer post race report from Ste, he must have been poached by ITV to co-present with Hammond next season
steaallan

sorry gav but what a exiting race right from the green flag lots of nailbiting going on plenty of thrills and even more spills and now with a three way tie on 48 and kibica on 46 it is going to be a great race when they move onto Hockenheim in Germany in a couple of weeks
Gav Taylor

nothing is exciting when its going round in a circle
club sec

Gav Taylor wrote:

You mean like super specials
steaallan

thats why the race was exiting cause they werent going in a circle they were going 100 right 30 left 30 right 30 left 35 right flat out straight 90 right 45 left into 90 right straight into 90 left into 15 right tightens 90 left hairpin leftlong easy right opens into straight  you see not a circle
club sec

He's been watching too many Saxo's going round  7 round the Tesco car park in Aycliffe.
club sec

What about WRGB that goes in circles round Cardiff does it not?
Road Rally Dave

I agree that Silverstone is generally boring to watch on TV, but being there to watch is always superb for the sheer noise and speed (even though I haven't been since early 90's).

The GP on Sunday was superb due to the conditions and Hamilton did a real Schumacher and made everyone else look a bit foolish - did he even notice that it was raining ??

Normally the GP2 races are much more fun, but Sunday afternoon was a bit special.

think of a beautiful horse doing a canter at a dressage comp
club sec

Are you going gay again?
Gav Taylor

.....yes.......
club sec

What I want to know is which A-hole in the FIA other than whiplash Moseley do ferrari have in their pocket? How sare they penalise Bourdais for hitting Massa when the half wit Brazilian chopped across him? I mean Seb  was already on the kerb on the inside just to avoid hitting him.

I hate Ferrari.
Road Rally Dave

Massa has been invited to next week's race at our local banger racing track - his nudge & spin technique has got a few hairy arsed Yorkshire banger drivers worried for the safety of their 1984 Nissan Bluebirds.
steaallan

sebastian loeb

thught you might want to have a look at sebastian loeb testing a red bull f1 car at silverstone
http://www.itv-f1.com/VideoWorldwide.aspx
club sec

well the race was alright up until the rain came, pity Glock didn't win. Glock's tyre choice was spot on, unlike Raikkonen who frankly looks like retiring from the sport he is so disinterested/ disillusioned.
bob_mck

i must admit, the BBC coverage is far better than ITV's. Also, whats happened to all of the top teams such as Maclaren and Ferarri? Why are they so slow and make such poor decisions? Good start to the season for button though, good to see another Brit at the top of a table
skodaman

I'm not a fan of the coverage. Don't know when to go for a pee or make a coffee!!!
Road Rally Dave

skodaman wrote:

Wimp !

Make a coffee before the start, then use the empty cup if nature calls before the chequered flag.

It's simple really.
club sec

So how come Jenson makes the car work and Rubens can't?

Is this the beginning of a new world order?
club sec

I quite like these topsy turvy results, it'd be nice to see Toyota or Williams get a win soon too.
steaallan

well with practise and qualifying this weekend this could be the one for toyota as long as they dont stuff it up into the first corner as it is a tight one at Bahrain
club sec

Buttons steam roller is getting a bit boring, we could do with a wet race or perhaps a guest drive by Jean Louis Schlesser?
joe_the_waiter

No, we could do with Lewis getting his act together and giving us a Battle of the Brits.
club sec

And so it goes on, to be fair Vettel lost the race Button didn't win it.
skodaman

Off to Silverstone tomorrow - yipee !!!!
club sec

And on friday too.
joe_the_waiter

Is it possible to change the title of this thread...   to F1 back off track ?

FIA v FOTA starts again after FOTA walk out of latest meeting.  Press release on www.fia.com
club sec

Proper f1

joe_the_waiter

yeah...  i remember that race. Nelson Piquet was my favourite driver in them days.  The races werent live then.......  i used to listen live on Radio 2 to every race and watched the highlights on TV which were very late on Sunday night.

............during the war...........
club sec

Shaping up to be a cracking run in to the end of the season, different (Button, Webber, Vettel, Hamilton) winners and Button isn't safe yet.
club sec

OUCH!

club sec

BMW have withdrawn from the end of the season
steaallan

somebody is bound to buy sauber out what u think
club sec

Prodrive?
club sec

joe_the_waiter

is that looking through a mirror?
club sec

How very observant, I didn't think anyone would notice that kate Humble's parting is on the wrong side.
Gav Taylor

no come back for schuey then
joe_the_waiter

dissapointed
club sec

To be fair he shouldn't be allowed to jump in when they have 2 nominated test/ reserve drivers, that's what they are paid for. So will it be Marc Gene (chance to showcase himself for Campos F1) or Luca badoer?
joe_the_waiter

It was announced this morning that its Luca Badoer.
i sort of agree with you regarding Schuey jumping in, but nevertheless, i was looking forward to it.
club sec

Fisi, Fisi, Fisi!
bob_mck

so Button won the championship, but does he deserve it???

I thinks so
