skodaman

How come i've been given No 1????  If we are having a re-seed it should be in championship order!
club sec

Who says the list is final?
steaallan

no keep it the way it is  that way it looks like i am peretty good
club sec

bump
skodaman

Just got e-mail. So am i No 1???
club sec

If you want to be
skodaman

Is it just me or is there alot of questions to be answered at round 5?
After all, Bob was the fastest man, i was consigned to mid-pace,
Stig allan was up at the top times, i had to work hard to pass Ahmed.
Atilla was 3 seconds quicker from practice to race (in the pit lane mind),
Malcolm was consistant in 1m23's. It does make for an interesting race in
October - bring it on !!!

For anyone that hasn't entered, don't sit on the fence, get involved - you'll
love it! Meet up at the club, give £10 per week to Martin or myself and your on the grid!!!
rednax86

Looking forward to the next round.  Still a long way off yet though.

When are we doing weight checks for the championship classes?  Just so I know when to stockpile on burgers and ice cream.
skodaman

We might have the scales at the next round to evaluate next year's
weight cut off point!
club sec

The scales will be at the track if we start to doubt anyones stated "largeness"

For the record

I weighed in with race suit and helmet at 103.5 KG, Brian was 104.5KG, Jason 94.0 KG and the rest were all too light!
skodaman

I am suggesting that we may need to increase the minimum weight for
class B to 14 stones. Lets see what drivers are actually weighing!
club sec

15.10 in old money

14 st bang on at present
skodaman

Convenient weight! Maintain your lifestyle just in case!
club sec

Scales it is at signing on then, it'll be a good gauge of why people are fast (or slow)

Talent V weight.

2009 SRH Round 5

Just to echo Colins comments about the next karting round, I couldn't agree more, with the lap times falling for several drivers, it will be very interesting to see how the grid is called up this time. In fact I quite fancy just watching it from the bank side!

It could of course be a wet meeting.........

Does anybody know if Bob intends keeping the plastic chicane on the West circuit exit? or was it just for the 24hr?
skodaman

Nothing has been said about the chicane, the 24hr race was the first
time it was used but reading between the lines there is a good chance
as it will save engines - allegedly!
joe_the_waiter

Bob & Ste, am i to assume your not doing Rally GB this year then? as its same time as karting...

do you think they could move the rally back a week if I send them a polite email??
joe_the_waiter

try a polite email to Kart championship organiser
club sec

ONLY IF YOU WANT A VERY RUDE REPLY.
Gav Taylor

which date was set first WRC GB or karting round?
club sec

Rally date was moved.
bob_mck

Quote:

which has the most pride at stake??
Gav Taylor

personal opinion Bob son

If I was competing in the karting champo then maybe my opinion would be different
club sec

Let me put it this way, if Bob runs the next round at the speed he did on the 24 hours he'll be the man to beat, Warren is his closest challenger and Colin is going to have to shift a few pounds to get his edge back.
bob_mck

thats the problem 100%. It should be a good race, and i dont want to cop out

I hope so, i loved it. Got the adrenaline flowing a few times when the kart started to slide at full tilt into the middle barrier . Should be even better in the wet

I have a feeling it might be there for a while because it had been painted onto the track.
joe_the_waiter

after seein g it (the chicane), i wanted to have a go at it to see how fast i could take it

i'm sure i will get the chance sometime
club sec

Flat out, only poofs lifted.
joe_the_waiter

so.... were you flat out through it?   no lifting??
club sec

Only when poofs got in my way.
joe_the_waiter

so why was Ste 2 secs a lap faster and he was lifting at the chicane???
bob_mck

joe_the_waiter wrote:

i doubt lifting would even effect the lap times by much at all, it just sorts the men from the boys
joe_the_waiter

i think it could cost half a second or even a little more...  besides.. id rather be the boy setting a faster lap time than a man struggling round....

Ste almost caught Martin again to gain another lap....  but Brian brought Martin in 10 mins early to avoid the shame....
club sec

I was brought in 10 minutes early at my own request from nearly having my spine snapped in half in stint 3 when I was slammed in to. I have since ordered some protective wear.

I am probably slower than Ste because I am 40 kilos heavier!
Gav Taylor

cant you just download the onboard data logs?
club sec

Don't give him ideas.
joe_the_waiter

what Marting is really saying is..... "i dont want people seeing my lap times...".

Em... you been drinking or summet...??  what does that mean?

Drinking... me... nah - I'm just crazy

What I mean is I didn't like it - pychological barrier - didn't like that part of the circuit - had two phychological barriers (albeit not at the same time) last year but got over those but this cicane bit was my 'barrier' this year
club sec

i thought those barriers were made of plastic.
joe_the_waiter

club sec wrote:

 apparently not......

so ......  the key to a fast lap..
ignore the chicanes, drive straight through them... they are only phsycological.

is that whats known as Sports Phsycology ??????
skodaman

This new chicane is flat out and quite right - only poofs lifted! Bob was
right, when the kart was on the edge & moving about it got the
adrenaline going a bit. For me it can stay, but i still think they could create
a better chicane, they are frightened of heavy braking resulting in an
accident!
Bob, now it appears you are the man to beat! How dare you even think
about going to rally GB!!
steaallan

well i am also in a quandary of what to do i woluld like to go to the rally but Big honours are at stake here so i might stay and send bob to the rally so i can jump him in the points
club sec

Well Gav normally jumps Bob in the woods on the rally so it'll be a change.
rednax86

Can the club organise a big trip down to Rally GB so I can have a nice quiet race? :)
EmSpem

I'm definately up for this now and there's definately one other from my 24hr team and two potentials.

I went to Teesside yesterday for my bf's work's event and got a PB for laptime 51.2--- (can't remember the other nos) and came 3rd (by .2 of a second - timed my strategy wrong by one lap   ) but was still well chuffed as I didn't think I'd even come placed - when the positions were announced at the end Dave said... "and in 3rd place - how does it feel to be thrashed by a girl - Emily" I love it hehe - so I've got better, am well pleased with that.  Need to keep in with it now so as not to lose it.

PS I know your times are way better but it's still good for me
joe_the_waiter

Emily, that time is very respectable....  but as a pro... you should of won. 3rd is dissapointing
EmSpem

A pro?  I dont get paid = no pro

I was so chuffed with 3rd - I was 23 seconds behind 1st place n just a lil miffed to have mistimed my attack - I'd sat in 3rd for a bit and was clock watching as  i was intending to squeeze through into 2nd but timed my attack wrong so was almost there but not quite but the lad who was 2nd has always been a few seconds per lap faster than me so I've obviously improved to be right up his chuff
joe_the_waiter

Next time Emily.....  Next time

ALWAYS PLENTY OF SPACES JUST POST ON HERE OR PM ME IF YOU WANT TO DO IT, ALSO SPACE FOR YOUR FRIENDS TOO.
sully

Count me in please, if you want any coin beforehand just let me know & i'll make contact.

A little about myself though, that’s me in the picture (hopefully its working) Im David, 24 years old & live in Sheffield. I did the 24 hours race for the first time recently & really enjoyed getting back into competitive motorsport. Previously I have raced for one season in the Citroen 2CV Championship which for everyone who has had the pleasure of watching 2CV Racing, is nowhere near as boring as it sounds.
club sec

Plenty of wing mirrors scraping the deck with 2CV's I'm sure.
sully

Wing Mirrors are pretty safe, its the rest of the car that gets some damage!!

joe_the_waiter

Did you know...........

if you reverse fast in a 2CV and brake hard......   the front wheels lift off the floor.....  its so funny
rednax86

I always wanted to have a go in the 2CV 24hr, looks awesome!
club sec

Looks like we have as many entries as rally GB.

Spemily, fancy coming out to play?
joe_the_waiter

Dont do it Em.......
 ... come with us..
club sec

Spem already said she'd rather do than watch, I think she was talking about karting?

club sec wrote:

yes I'm up for it definately - just gotta watch my money tho - its my club's AGM this weekend - all the way down to Southampton on Fri, followed by Beaulieu motor museum on the Sat then to Brooklands (where the club was formed in 1999), Surrey for AGM on Sun - will be an expensive weekend - so I'll let you guys know for sure next week!!  i'm sure there's a few of my 24hr team that can make it - I'll remind them on and get them to post up on here too
sully

Could anyone tell me what the performance differences are between the 24hr Karts & the one used in the Championship?

Also, are the makeshift chicanes a perminant fixture now?
club sec

none and don't know.
club sec

i have clarified the amount of karts we are running with Teesside karting and because we are using so many there will be a mix of 2 fleets. The difference is centre tank or rear tanks and I am assured by the man in the know that there is only around 1/10th of a second difference between them over a lap of Teesside. But if you are ultra competitive then it's a centre tank that is supposed to be quicker.

If everyone turns up for this race then it will be our biggest entry ever and quite interesting considering we are in a recession.

lets hope the November 29th race is the same.

2010 dates are provisionally booked and regs will be available at the November race.
club sec

Just seven days to go until the biggest UK sporting event of the year...

at Teesside.
steaallan

have you got a list of entrants

Makeshilft Chicanes

Question in Sullys posting

Quote:
Also, are the makeshift chicanes a perminant fixture now?

Bob says he is definitely keeping the makeshift chicane, but in the longer term it will be replaced by plastice rumble strips bolted to the track to form a chicane,  and Plastic bollards placed just outside the rumble strips. Riding the "bumps" will be the drivers choice but anybody knocking down cones will have to do a pitlane drive through penalty or they will have laps deducted.

For sunday it will probably be as per the 24hr, but at least we won't have to persevere the night shift flood lights.

Have a good race Sully, hope you enjoy the day.

Steve: Linda has been doing a rain dance for me, to summon those dark clouds, sorry! - better start on the pork pies.
rednax86

Where is this makeshift chicane?  I'm guessing it's somewhere on the straight as you leave the extension heading back onto the original circuit?
club sec

about 30 metres before the esses.

I assume with a large enough pair of bollocks it can be taken flat?

You don't have to be Buster Gonad, it's not that bad.
