Gav Taylor

Anybody else up at Croft today it was fecking freezing
skodaman

Yeah i was there, still thawing out now!!!  Left after first 20 cars of stage 6 coz i was getting annoyed at trying to film in strong wind with lack of decent places to stand. On the morning i was over the back of the circuit and was sheltered, came back to the car for dinner and they had clamped down on where you could go. Should have footage of the event for wednesday night if you would like to join us.
slippy

Footy night Wednesday mate

I hear you re the speccying spots they were gew and far between
skodaman

Croft is evil. The wind always blows the same bloody way. Every spectator area is facing into the wind and the low sun - can't they turn it round ????

Bird won it. Sounds as though the last stage was a bit of a farce.
slippy

Have to agree it's pretty bleak

BIRD STORMS TO JACK FROST VICTORY

Penrith rally driver Paul Bird saw off some strong opposition to win today's Cartersport Jack Frost Stages Rally at Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire.

Driving the Vent Axia and Kick Energy sponsored Subaru WRC S9 along with Northallerton co-driver Ian Windress, the pair were pushed all the way by double winners Chris Wise and Tracey Taylor-West in their MG Metro 6R4, but Bird emerged victorious by 34 seconds after eight stages.

With no problems to report on the TEG Sport-run car all day, Bird eased off as wintry showers arrived late in the day but a steady run through the final couple of stages saw him clinch his inaugural win on the Darlington and District Motor Club event.

"After finishing second on the Christmas Stages a few weeks ago I was determined to win today.  There were some good drivers and Chris Wise in particular kept us on our toes all day.  The weather caused us a few problems late in the day but I'm delighted to win and hope this bodes well for the season ahead.  Now I've won an event I'm hoping my Superbike riders can do likewise in the world championship."

Bird's next outing is on Rallye Sunseeker at the end of February for the opening round of the Pirelli MSA Gravel Rally Championship.

Had a look on the DDMC results page, it seems the armco claimed a few casualties on the last stage. By the sounds of it i might have got soaked if i'd stayed anyway.
joe_the_waiter

did the route contain the usual illegal merge that somehow DMC are allowed to get away with?
slippy
