Oily Rag

Mine just dropped on the mat, a good read well done to the Sec and those who contributed
Gav Taylor

that probably just Sec then mate

he's like a polish immigrant working away behind the scenes that lad
club sec

I especially enjoyed this months articles of the whistleblower and the report from the lads who camped out on the Border counties cos they're just such rally fans.
Gav Taylor

wasnt a put down mate, more of a salute.
joe_the_waiter

i never opened my mouth..  besides, its not like i'm doing nothing.
club sec

But you still felt guilty enough to respond  .

Just think of the articles we'll get "marshalling around the globe" or "Lonely planet- the marshals guide".

Bitter, me, nooooo.
Gav Taylor

lol I will try my best like

doesnt seem to have the same entry as we get over here, more of the baja junk

thinking of this as my first rally in the USA http://www.northnevadarally.com/

and then prob this one in OZ http://www.rallysa.com.au/index.asp

Oily Rag

Over 120 copies of each issue of the Oily Rag are sent out which means that if everyone who gets a copy wrote only one article a year the Editor would have a minimun of 10 articles per month to fill future editions- and in addition there would be lots of points scored for the club championship.

Preparing and editing the newsletter is a difficult job so let's all help the Editor by giving him plenty of stuff to work with.  I know he would really appreciate this!!
Gav Taylor

whilst I agree with your logic Mike, that would require 10 different events as well to get us 10 unique pieces every month.
club sec

Which is normally achieved by the people in the club. Plus it doesn't have to be about a current/ recent event, you could write about all the events you have done in the past.............oh

Not at all.  you implicated me by referring to 'The Whistle Blower'.

There may be good reason to highlight the need for effort by club members to keep the club running well, but pointing the finger at someone who does more than most is wrong and will prove counter productive. I have only been a member of this club for 3 1/2 years but have put a huge amount of time and cost into it.  Chief Marshal for the CHR for last three years, Chief Marshal for ToH last year and this, Creating the maps and making many revisions on ToH, Designing, creating and running the websites for CHR, ToH and now the club website, creator and organiser of the Guy Wilks night, marshaling at around 15 events per year and taking the club banners along for the promotion of the club on most, plus being available to help with other club events.
I won the club championship in 2007 and came second last year through gaining points from things i have done, yet did not include points for the huge hours i spend creating the websites. To implicate me when refering to club members not doing enough or even that i havent written an article for the Oily Rag is disgraceful.

Its strange when people in other Motor Clubs recognise my efforts more than members of SDMC
club sec

Something touched a nerve there.

I like that.... you come to the SDMC forum to check where you live.

as i have always suspected....  The SDMC Forum is the definitive place for all info.. ( well, after the website of course.... ).

Anyway Stephen....  with that address... why arent you a regular visitor to club nights??? turn the corner, four steps, a hop and your there.
club sec

You might want to edit that post and pm the address, there are  a lot of nutters out there that know how close you live to the club.
Stephentgardiner

Cheers for the advice club sec, and joe, i work in italy at the minute, so its not just round the corner and a hop, i have someone in my house who posts it and other mail over to me, i just like to read it!
club sec

Good job someone is in your house or Gav and JTW would have been straight round claiming squatters rights.
Stephentgardiner

If they bring a crate of the wet stuff, a party, and a finly preserved 1971 mk1 ford escort rs2000 straight out of the london to mexico rally more the merrier.

PS it would need a crossflow in it and not one of those shoddy cosworth yb conversions!
club sec

you're quite safe then, they only like to watch....apparently.
joe_the_waiter

Club Sec....  send 100 oily rags to Steve for distribution in Italy.... Lets Go INTERNATIONAL.

September/ October issue is ready but due to a computer issue I can't print the address labels at the moment, if you are able to do so please collect your copy at tonights (yes Tuesday) club meeting.
Gav Taylor

you should consider moving to a pdf version to save money on stamps and printing costs and of course your own time.
club sec

it is generally acknowledged that very few people read e copies of newsletters- I certainly don't.
Gav Taylor

fair do's just a thought
slippy

I would
joe_the_waiter

i have already offered to put it online
club sec

making it a pdf s possible, and easy enough but filling the mag with content is the bigger problem so until that is resolved it's on the back burner.
slippy

I am happy to contribute monthly if reminded of course

Sec did you get my PM re tyres ???
club sec

Yes, I'll re-read it as my head is up my arse with work, decorating and a broken computer.
club sec

Computer is now fixed so I can print the address labels for the newsletters. I will also have about 30 copies at the karting on Sunday.

I have started on the next issue already but would really like some more pictures of members in action especially for the front cover, I have tried to vary the cars and people on the cover but I am running short of "different" options and I only want to use pics of people in the club.
slippy

Will hopefully stay on long enough to get some photo's from the Keith Knox Sec and I'll do a little report type thing is that would be agreeable
club sec

Yes that would be great, make sure the photos aren't copyrighted? copywritten? a or if they are you have approval for use.
club sec

Still in need of a front cover shot within the next 2 weeks otherwise I'll have to raid the archive.
slippy

I'll see what I can get a howld of if nobody else has any submissions
