Hi my name is Mike Elliott, and I´m a ex member of SDMC who is now living in Germany. I´m looking for old freinds and new to chat and keep up to date with whats going on back home. I was a competing
member of the club in the late seventies early eigthy´s.
I have started competing again after a 20yr. break now here in Germany with a old Mk2 Golf GTI ( youngtimer class ). it would be nice to hear from anybody who might remeber me.

Bit before my time with S&DMC, but i'm sure someone will know you. Problem is, most who use the forum are of the latter generation. those you probably remember from that era probably dont come on the forum.

I´m livining Nürnberg in the south of germany better know as Baveria. I think it´s GREAT to see that SDMC is still going and going strogly after so many years. As I left back in 86 the club was slowly dwindling out along with the rallying, and didn´t think it exsited any more until a month ago wenn my Dad (who still lives in Norton ) saw a homepage sticker on Landrover. So just had to have a look !!!!!!!!!
I all I can say now is great work to ALL. And looks as if rallying is now sa strong as ever from what I´ve Seen ( thanks to Youtube and slippys Inboard videos)

A couple of the names ring a bell but I cann´t be really sure. if it helps any of the older member I used to run a Blue and white 1300 hillman Avenger in road Rallies ( 2 in class on the Stoktonian 1985)

Hi Mike i'm Colin Peacock, current club chairman. I joined the club in 1994 when a good turn out at a club night was about four people!! Things have improved a great deal since and the club is very active any many motor sports. It's always nice to hear from past members, shame you didn't know about our 75th anniversary night 3 years ago when many faces from SDMC old and new got together. Keep us posted with your events in Germany !!!

well Mike, S&DMC may of nearly died.... but its alive and well now.
although we have a (relatively) small turn out, everyone works hard to give the club the status of those with four or five times the member numbers.
We currently organise and run
Croft Historic Rally ( http://www.crofthistoricrally.co.uk )

Tour of Hamsterley Rally (http://www.tourofhamsterley.co.uk)

We organise a local Kart championship

Have a team competiong every year in the British 24hr Kart race

we marshal all over the country and our club banners got lots of TV coverage on the recent Wales Rally GB,

Members compete in many forms on many events.

Last year we organised the North Easts biggest Rally evening where we had many stars including current british rally champion Guy Wilks, Nicky Grist (who is a club member and enters rallies under the S&DMC banner) and other WRC celebs (we even had live feed from Jari Matti Latvala from his home).

We attend local motor shows displaying club members many competition cars,

Last year we came second in the Auto Glym national motor club quiz........ This year we went one better and won.

end of last year we got special recognicion from the MSA for the clubs recent achievements and hard work.

We are often mentioned in Motorsport News, Local Evening Gazette and other papers.

so........ Come back home Mike.... the future is yellow and green.... the future is S&DMC
