Fear not Simon the new Slippy for 2009 and is a more mature, more focused individual

Besides I've bet me father a tenner I'll finish this one
club sec

William hill would offer some canny odds on that.
slippy

Howay Sec man you should be encouraging your fellow members to suceed
club sec

Slippy to finish an event with Gaylor to take up rallying and Brokeback to make it past the first corner without going off, that's some treble.
slippy

I'll hold my end up so to speak

was a good day the navagtor was a little slow but got there in the end and like slippy said we FINISHED that was the aim so we just needto improve all levels of the game from know onwards
Road Rally Dave

Excellent Result

I bet you would have been more than happy with 3rd in class before the start !
slippy

Cheers chaps, yup your dead right we would have took third on class at the start, we were nipping for the last few stages every noise or rock we hit we were sure would be a show stopper but thank fully the old girl stood up to the punishment
joe_the_waiter

Well done. a clean drive to the finish.  I was at j4 of SS5 and everyone was going off. Most got straight back on but some didnt. as it was every car doing the same thing, i tried to get a message to you to warn of that junction, but couldnt. As it happened, you took the same line as the top guys and never had a problem (about 70% took a different line and went off). was good stuff.  I was on the final stage and i have to admit, when the last few cars were going through, i thought you werent going to show........  then you came round the corner still looking well. Good stuff.

Great spectating yesterday...  saw SS1, SS5, SS9, SS11 & SS12 (SS12 saw last 30 cars.. went to make sure Slippy made it).  Furthest drive between stages was 10 mins and every stage i did, i parked car within 50 meters of the stage. Lots of spectators, this is a Quality rally for both spectators and competitors alike.
Simon

I doubt that I have enjoyed an event as much as this one.  Everything about it was, for me, just about perfect.  Great weather, some amazing action, very committed driving throughout the field, and some good company across the day.  Now, if only every event could be like this.....

#1 The historics were first through, in some wonderful spring light.

#2 Next came the modern cars.  Tim Pearcey was running first on the road, and appeared around the corner carrying way too much speed.  He threw the car sideways to try and scrub at least some of it off.

#3 But he was past the point of no return, and hit the temporary hay bale chicane pretty hard.  Amazingly, the only sign of damage on the car was a broken headlight!  The incident didn't slow him down much either, as he set joint fastest time on this stage and finished second overall.

#4 The afternoon brought a fantastic slection of sideways driving.

#5 The Porsche 911s were at it as well.

#6 As was the MG S2000 of Peter Stephenson

#7 Even the BMW's decided to join in

#8 One of my favourite cars from the day - an imacculate Escort mk I Twincam.

Cracking day - if you missed it, I reckon you might just have missed one of the best events to be held this year.

Simon.
Simon

Of course, I have to post a couple of pictures of Slippy and Sparky2i from the event, so here you go guys.

The car looked great, although I was a little concerned as you came out of the hairpin in Roppa second time through - it sounded like you were struggling with gears and set off up the long uphill straight in a higher gear than you wanted to?

Cheers,

Simon.
joe_the_waiter

Looks like J,M,Latvala driving and (for those over 35) co driven by a character from 'Chips'
slippy

Thanks for the pics Simon

We were, sorry, I was having issues with gear selection so left it where it was rather than fishing for gears and losing our momentum, just been watching some outside video and it looks pedestrian

Couple more
