Another thoroughly enjoyable day.  An absolutely fantastic event, and one that I hope establishes itself - it certainly deserves to.  My knee even stood up to the whole day!

I've updated my website with some pictures from the day (http://www.srh-motorsport-photography.com, but here's a couple of tasters!

Cheers,

Simon.

You could do the event in any standard road car, like you can a sprint or hill climb, safety equipment depends on how much you enjoy life!

I thought cages with no helmets were a very big no no

in a crash similar to being smacked around the head with a scaffolding poll swung at 30/40 mph!

bad set up a cage with no helmets in a non forest rally would much rather roll and let car take energy rather than smack my head off roll cage a few times. That was one of the first safety lessons I ever learnt when I begun following rallying.

each to their own like.

As I said above.

Hence I paid £300+ for a nomex 3 layer race suit, not £40 for a pair of proban overalls. Both are legal for competiition but........

well was supposed to be at the debrief tonight but could not go due to a trip to Scotland tomorrow setting of at 4:45am!

BUT at 8:30PM it was cancelled yipee....going next week instead!

So thought I would check out the forum

The event is a Historic road rally and as such no helmets allowed....OF course a cage without helmets is fine - yes there is a risk of getting hit on the head if you roll but if its put in correct and padded then the risk is reduced.    ROAD RALLIES - CAGE - Illegal to have helmets on public road in a car.... so all is fine..

But Martin is right - spend what you can on the safety gear.... I have Sparco nomex 3 layer international suit.  Sparco Pro Rally helmet with Peltor intercom.... Mind you Helmets to our BS6566??? are not as good as Snell 2005 standard as the snell standard is much more stringent...Snell helmets usually cost more and the open face variety tested to Snell 2005 are very limited.

aplogies for hijacking the thread!

Steve

Just looked at the SRH pictures - some good ones there. Even a few of us in car 00 - looks as though Ryan had his eyes closed in the back seat !
Ryan and I had a great time on Sunday.
Well done to all involved in the whole event. Some good reports on BritishRally forum and special mentions to the PR dept. in securing all the media coverage.

Called in at my Mum&Dad's today and collected the "surplus" CHR trophy which was very kindly given to Ryan. Ryan said a big THANKS when he saw it    and has decided to give it pride of place on the desk in his bedroom.
