the enormity is rather daunting yes, but I reckon I can nail it.

not sure about 'expertise'

If I may suggest some advice..... don't think about the whole site too much (huge task), just work on the template for home page first, the rest will follow.
I would certainly use css, that will make it easier when your making small changes later on.

for sure Dave, I've made the home page and I'm gonna use the template as the "template" for the rest of the sites pages. CSS seems to work in your favour do you not think, with regards to sizing and the like.

apart from the initail biuld the other major projects will be adding a password protected area and then of course the logging and linking of all the pics...then I'll embed this forum into the main site

moving the pics will be the worse part. like moving house but one item at a time. or painting interior walls with a fine art brush.
I use an online FTP with a maximum of six files at a time (& often crashes with too much info so I try keeping to three at a time).  hope yours is better

  good luck

the first draft of the new site homepage is here

fresh, light and airy with a peppering of the bygone era

I "moused over" the getting started tab so you can see it when its "selected".

I choose the old school startline pic to provide poignant reminder of the clubs early days back in the 30's

E&OE at the moment and I'll probably change/add to the headings.

The starting point for getting the club where it deserves to be...at the top!!

I have scanned logo from a sticker.... when enlarged, the lines aren't even straight or even.  using PSP, but its not best. at some point, I might even regenerate it from scratch if I can.

That's because the one we are using is from a scan of a car sticker! We do not have a digital original, oh the shame!

but the car sticker logo isn't  even straight (tho it looks it when its only small).
well. when I'm finished, we will have a reasonable digital master.  won't be as good as newly drawn one, but not far off.

at least we're getting the club brought back to date (websites, forum etc) ready for the huge influx of members in 2008

oh look who it is........
I have a problem doing more than one thing at a time?.... you have a problem doing one thing...

can't say that really, I mean, you attended the club at least three times this year.

anyway, you don't belong in this topic...... its for interweb techie website nerds like us who eat fission chips & a byte to eat for lunch.
your just a hairy arsed trucker (scrub the arse bit...... I wouldn't know), who shouts abuse & eats Yorkies
