a few competitors on the rain lashed xmas stages were using gravels quite sucessfully, something to bear in mind.

| Do you have to use tyres from a set list, because gravel tyres are legal for road use provided they have the correct sidewall markings (I think) ? I find that part worn (no more than about 5mm tread) gravel tyres are more progressive on wet roads because they slide a bit more easily, when road tyres either grip or don't which can lead to a sudden slide. |
