I was preping the Xsara to get the door handle changed and I found this cable laid in the bottom of the door. By the looks of things, I'm not the first person in there due to the rolls of masking tape used to reseal the foam sheet. I dont think its fell off because everything works. It has hexagonal nipples on either end and the outer rubber cover has a continuous twist in it. Any ideas??

It looks like the cable from your interior door handle to the lock mechanism. If there is one already fitted, then either it has been changed once and old one left inside, or someone has tried to use it for breaking into car and dropped it while trying.

No, my Dad insisted on adding that part to give more detail. Not that it was required.

It turns out to be an old window regulator
